office furniture

There's nothing quite like new office furniture and equipment to inspire creativity, make employees feel welcome and appreciated, and let your customers know you care enough to invest in the appearance of your office. To keep that office furniture looking and functioning like new, we'd like to recommend a few simple care and maintenance tips.

1. Protect Desk Tops

No matter what material you choose for your desks, there are steps you can take to avoid damage. Keep solid wood surfaces and wood veneers looking new by protecting their surfaces. Use coasters for both hot and cold beverages, and buy desk pads to prevent pens, pencils, and markers from leaving impressions or bleeding through. Check with your office furniture provider to find out which cleaning products are best for your desks, and make it a point to clean all surfaces regularly.

2. Avoid Direct Sunlight

Over time, sunlight can fade office furniture, including desktops and upholstery. Move your furniture out of direct sunlight or install protective coverings on your windows to block UV light.

3. Keep Chairs Functioning

Your employees spend a lot of time in their office chairs, and chair bolts can become loose with regular use. Try this trick: When it's time for the seasonal changing of your office clocks, tighten the screws in all of your chairs. An Allen wrench is usually all that's required. (Tip: Keep the Allen wrench that comes with your chair and tape it under the seat. It'll be handy the next time you need it.) A chair mat can also help your chairs last longer, and it's good for the flooring, too.
